Your First Visit: How Consultations Work with In-House Interpreters

October 7, 2026·5 min read·By the DayBeau Gangnam Medical Team

Arriving at a clinic in a city whose language you don't speak, the hardest part is often not the treatment. It is knowing that what you meant is what was heard. In an unfamiliar city, communication can feel harder than the treatment itself.

This piece walks through a first visit to DayBeau Gangnam: how booking works, who you meet, what each conversation decides, and how language is handled from your first message to aftercare at home.

What languages can I have my consultation in?

Consultations are available in English, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Japanese and Thai. Our interpreters are in-house, not on the phone: speakers of these languages are part of the clinic team, so your consultation, treatment day and aftercare all happen in your language.

In practice, a dedicated five-language team is with you from your first inquiry through aftercare. The people who help you put your concerns into words on the day are part of the same clinic team that follows up after you fly home. Let us know your preferred language when you book.

How do I book a first consultation?

You can book through the booking button on our website, or by messaging us on WhatsApp, LINE, WeChat or KakaoTalk. At this point it helps to share your skin concerns, photos, your travel schedule and your preferred language; our global care team helps prepare before your visit.

Travel dates matter more than they might seem. Share them when you first contact us and we can usually confirm in advance whether what you are considering fits the time you have in Gangnam. After a consultation, we confirm a schedule tailored to your visit.

What happens in the Personal Consultant Session?

Your visit starts with a Personal Consultant Session, held in a private, unhurried space. Your dedicated consultant listens first. Your skin concerns, aesthetic goals, travel schedule, budget and expected downtime are the starting point — not a standard menu.

This is where the shape of a plan is explained: treatment options, expected downtime, pricing and aftercare, before you make a decision. Exact pricing is confirmed after consultation. A consultation is a conversation, not a contract; you are free to take time over it, to ask again, or not to go ahead.

What does the doctor decide in the Doctor's Treatment Design?

Every treatment at DayBeau Gangnam begins with a doctor's pre-treatment design. After your Personal Consultant Session, the doctor reviews your skin directly and finalizes the details for your case — the product or device, the areas, the dosage or depth. The doctor confirms everything once more before treatment begins.

This conversation happens in your language as well, and it is the moment to mention your health. Before your treatment, tell us if you are pregnant or breastfeeding; if you have a wound, an infection or severe acne in the treatment area; if you have a history of severe allergies or a neuromuscular disease; if you have taken isotretinoin (an oral acne medication) within the past 6 months; or if you have a pacemaker or another implanted electronic device.

Please tell us everything you take, too. We do not ask you to stop your usual medication for a cosmetic treatment, but blood thinners such as aspirin or warfarin can make bruising or bleeding more likely. Your doctor decides whether the treatment can go ahead.

Can I have treatment on the same day as my consultation?

Often, yes. Same-day treatment is possible for many procedures when your schedule is limited, subject to your Personal Consultant Session and the Doctor's Treatment Design. We connect consultation and treatment efficiently for travelers on short schedules.

Your flight home belongs in the same plan. Flight timing depends on the type of treatment and how your recovery is going. Tell us your departure date before you book, and your doctor will set the treatment order and the interval before your flight.

If discomfort is a worry, raise it here too. The Comfort Code, our pain-care program, is designed with you at a pre-treatment consultation, matched to your sensitivity and your procedure.

What should I bring, and how do I find the clinic?

A short list is useful: the names of any medications you take, the treatments you have had before and roughly when, your departure date and flight time, and the messenger you would like aftercare to arrive on. Your doctor looks at what treatments you have had before, so even an approximate history helps. None of it needs to be in Korean.

DayBeau Gangnam is at 494 Gangnam-daero, a 3-minute walk from Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 3, and about 60 to 80 minutes from Incheon International Airport by car or airport limousine. We are open every week, including weekends, and closed only on Seollal (Lunar New Year's Day) and Chuseok Day.

What happens after I fly home?

Care doesn't stop at the airport. Aftercare guidance arrives in your language, with progress check-ins through your preferred messenger and video consultations when needed.

If blisters, severe pain, fever, or changes in skin color appear within a few days after treatment, contact DayBeau right away — call +82-2-2138-2225 or message us on KakaoTalk. If you have difficulty breathing or swallowing, or notice changes in your vision, seek care immediately at the nearest medical facility (emergency room). General inquiries are answered within one business day.

What a first visit actually decides

A first visit is less about choosing a treatment than about being understood well enough for one to be chosen. The Personal Consultant Session establishes what concerns you, how long you are here and what your trip allows. The Doctor's Treatment Design looks at your skin and decides what is suitable, and in what order. Both happen in your language.

If you are still deciding where to go, the questions in our piece on choosing a clinic apply to us as much as to anyone. If you would like to understand the options before you arrive, our pieces on how lifting energies differ and on Rejuran and Re2O set out the reasoning a doctor follows.

Bring your concerns rather than a treatment list. The plan is built in the room, in your language.
